How Caylem handles personal information and how you can exercise your privacy rights.
1. Who is responsible
Caylem is operated by Lyemac (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa under registration number 2020/841446/07, based in Pretoria, South Africa. Lyemac is the responsible party for personal information processed to operate this website. This policy covers our website and communications with you. It does not cover independent products that other developers build using Caylem.
2. Information from website visits
Our hosting and delivery providers process technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, and error records to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. If you contact us, we receive the contact details and message you choose to provide. Please do not send passwords, payment card details, or sensitive personal information in a support message.
3. Accounts, purchases, and application data
When you create an account, Clerk processes your sign-in information and profile. Our backend stores your Clerk identifier and may hold your name and email address. Convex stores application records, including projects you create, purchase references, customer identifiers, billing status, and access to purchased releases. Polar processes checkout and payment information. Our application receives order amounts, currencies, status, and related references, rather than your full payment card details. If you subscribe to a newsletter, we store your email address.
4. Why we use information
We use account and order information to provide the service, verify access, deliver purchases, and handle support. We process security records to protect the service and investigate misuse, and transaction records to meet applicable accounting and legal obligations. Where applicable, these purposes rely on performing our contract, complying with law, or our legitimate interests in running a secure service. Optional marketing relies on consent or another basis permitted by law. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Required account or checkout information is necessary to create an account or complete a purchase. Newsletter sign-up is optional.
5. Service providers and sharing
We use Clerk for authentication, Convex for backend data, Polar for checkout and billing, Resend for email delivery, Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, and GitHub for release archives. Each provider receives information needed for its function. Payment providers may also use information for their own legal and fraud-prevention duties under their privacy notices. We may disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections.
6. Cookies and browser storage
The site stores your theme preference in your browser. Authentication services use cookies or similar storage to keep you signed in and protect sessions. Checkout providers may use storage on their own checkout pages. You can clear browser storage or restrict cookies in your browser, but some account or checkout features may stop working. Optional tracking, if introduced, requires a separate notice and consent where required by law.
7. International processing
Our providers may process information outside South Africa, including in countries with different privacy laws. Cross-border processing must have a basis allowed by applicable law, such as adequate protection, binding contractual safeguards, or another permitted exception. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
8. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose described in this policy. Relevant factors include an active service relationship, unresolved support requests, security investigations, and statutory recordkeeping or claim periods. Information no longer needed should be deleted or de-identified, subject to lawful retention requirements and backup cycles. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your privacy rights
Under applicable law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may request confirmation of the information we hold, access, correction, or deletion, and may object to certain processing. Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, you may also have rights to restriction and data portability. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Some information must be retained to meet legal obligations. You may complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za/ or to the relevant authority where you live. You do not have to contact us first.
10. Children
Caylem is intended for adults and people authorized to act for businesses. We do not intentionally collect children’s information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate and address it.
11. Contact and changes
For privacy requests, email Lyemac at jason@lyemac.co.za and identify your request as a Caylem privacy matter. We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The date above identifies this version. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
